Aunt Mary (left), Aunt Pearl (right)

Looking through my hard drive, I found these ten-year old images of my two great-aunts. My family and I gathered at Union Station in Los Angeles, watching my mother and her cousins drop their mother's off to their trains. These ladies, with their matching blankets, along with my grandmother, were on the way to New Orleans to lay their sister, my Great-Aunt Elo to rest.

These images encapsulate the walk of life in sisterhood and in womanhood, one last gathering with loved ones, representing the journeys taken for a final farewell.

I chose these photos in remembrance of Aunt Elo and Aunt Mary. Dedicating this artwork to these leading ladies, may they rest peacefully.
